Louisa Shooting Victim Charged At Deputy Before Being Shot





Virginia State Police e are investigating a deputy-involved shooting in Louisa County after a citizen charged at the deputy.

The incident happened close to 3 a.m. early Monday in the 9000 block of Louisa Road. When a deputy arrived on the scene of a crash he saw a man run into the woods. The deputy then chased and caught up with the man about a quarter mile down the road.  The deputy then briefly spoke to him before the man charged at the deputy, according to police.

The 44-year-old suspect was shot once during the struggle. He was taken to UVA Health System and is in stable condition. The deputy was not injured.

Police have not released the name of the suspect at this time. The shooting remains under investigation.
