Newsweek states, “President Donald Trump is obsessed with his predecessor, according to a number of pundits who believe many of the Republican’s policies are all about “blowing the former president’s legacy.”
Don Lemon, on his CNN show, asked, “Does President Trump have an Obama obsession?” following President Trump’s effort to take back the Iran deal. Political analyst David Gergen, as reported by Newsweek, told Lemon he believed the recent announcement on the Iran deal, as well as Trump killing Obamacare subsidies, was “more about blowing up the former president’s legacy than anybody wants to admit.”
Gergen continues to say, “Anything which has the name Obama on it automatically becomes a target for Donald Trump and he’s trying to reverse as much of that as possible.”
Is the obsession with former President Barack Obama real? Do we believe that President Trump could be so petty? One should wonder could he be so detrimental to the United States of America because of his obsession with our former president? We all hope that this is not a possibility but unfortunately it seems more than likely to be true.
To add insult to injury President Trump endorsed a fake Twitter poll, over the summer, claiming he was “a better president of the United States than Barack Obama.”
The New York Times stated, in regards to President Trump’s obsession with former President Barack Obama:
“Indeed, much of what Trump has accomplished – and it hasn’t been much – has been to undo Obama’s accomplishments, like puling out of the Trans-Pacific Partnership and the Paris climate agreement and reversing an Obama-era rule that helped prevent guns from being purchased by certain mentally ill people. For Trump, even plans to repeal and replace the Affordable Care Act aren’t so much about creating better policy as they are about dismantling Obama’s legacy. The problem with Obamacare isn’t that it hasn’t borne fruit, but rather that it bears Obama’s name.”
How do we fix the problems he causing out of sheer pettiness? In a more recent article in The New York Times noted:
“It must be cold and miserable standing in the shadow of someone greater and smarter, more loved and more admired. It must be infuriating to have risen on the wings of your derision of that person’s every decision, and even his very existence, and yet not be able to measure up – in either stratagem or efficacy – when you sit where that person once sat.”
President Trump seems so obsessed with former President Obama that he is negatively impacting our relationships with the world. The Pew Research Center states, “Donald Trump’s presidency has had a major impact on how the world sees the United States. Trump and many of his key policies are broadly unpopular around the globe, and ratings for the U.S have declined steely in many nations.”
Here is a breakdown on the confidence in the U.S president to do the right thing regarding world affairs.
Are we worried about the obsession President Trump has in regards with our former president? He seems to be making countless of decisions in destroying President Obama’s legacy. This attitude is not just directly affecting our country but our relationships with the international world. Will we be able to fix the damage President Trump is causing?
