A fire tore through a Chesterfield home the night before Thanksgiving. This happened in the 2000 block of Circlestone Court.
"It looked like a cloud of smoke. It was so engulfed," said neighbor Wendi Toombs. "It was very scary because I live right next door."
Toombs watched as Chesterfield Fire crews battled the fire for close to 20 minutes.
"I was very anxious. I had kids to get out the house..two dogs," said Toombs. "I ran down the street and got the neighbors. It was very hectic out here."
The family says they have lost everything they own. Their trailer is a complete loss.
"It is absolutely devastating. The good news is nobody was hurt," said Battalion Chief William Marsiglio. "We acted really quickly. We got water on the fire and kind of controlled it until all the resources could get here and we could go on and put the rest of it out."
The chief says he understands this is all the more difficult given that it happened during the Thanksgiving Holiday, but he feels it should serve as a warning to us all.
"Remind everybody to be careful when you are cooking. Make sure your smoke detector is working," said Chief Marsiglio. "We don't want this to happen to anybody else."
Crews are still investigating the cause of the fire. The Red Cross is assisting the family. If you would like to help the family you can reach them directly at the following email address: email@example.com.
