A recap of the amazing/tragic Redskins – Cowboys game

The Washington Redskins now sit alone at the top of the NFC East with a record of 4- 2. Sunday, the Redskins beat the Dallas Cowboys 20 to 17 in a division battle that came down to the last play. The defense of the Redskins once again played to a high level as they didn’t allow Ezekiel Elliott to get going on the ground and kept him in check all game. The defense held Elliott to his second worst rushing game of his career with only 15 carries for 33 yards, an average of 2.2 yards per carry.

Redskins’ running back Adrian Peterson continued to impress as he is having his best rushing season since 2015. Peterson is now on pace to rush for 1,168 yards and is still proving all the doubters wrong as he signed with the Redskins on a 1 year veteran minimum deal.

The game came down to the last play of the game as the Cowboys were forced to kick a 52 yard field goal into the wind. Of course the Cowboys missed the field goal, but they did have a chance to kick a 47 yard field goal, before a penalty was called on their long snapper. As the game winning field goal attempt went into the air the kick looked good until it curved to the left and hit the upright. Redskins’ fans let out a roar as they improved to 4 and 2 and the Cowboys remained winless on the road this season.

I would like for Redskins fans to put some respect on the name of their quarterback Alex Smith as he ranks 3rd in the NFL since 2011 in wins and led the Kansas City Chiefs to the playoffs as he was being mentioned for MVP, starting last year off with a 5 and 0 record.

Redskins’ fans, I would keep an eye on the trade deadline as the Redskins have been in contact with the Oakland Raiders to trade for their starting wide receiver Amari Cooper, which would be a great move for the Redskins to make.

The trade for Amari Cooper would not only give him a fresh start, but he would boost Washington’s receiver core. I should probably mention that he would be another Alabama player added to their roster. The Washington Redskins next game is another division rival in the New York Giants. The week 8 game is in New York at 1 o’clock and I’d say the Redskins would be heavily favored over the Giants in this matchup.
