CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, VA — Today, Chesterfield County Fleet Services was recognized at the Board of Supervisors’ afternoon session for their exemplifying Everyday Excellence. Fleet Services has received the following honors:

·         The 100 Best Fleets – Ranked #47 in 2019

·         Green Fleet Awards – Ranked #45 in 2019

·         Government Fleet Magazine – 2019 Leading Fleets – Notable Fleet

“It’s a great achievement; it’s something we can all be proud of,” Sarah Bishop, Fleet Services business analyst, said. “I believe that the awards generate from the staff and the employees and it goes to show what a great staff and organization we are and how dedicated each employee is.”

Collectively, the Fleet Services’ staff has more than 918 years of dedicated service to Chesterfield County. In 2019, the county submitted evidence of this continued dedication for the first time, and that hard work has manifested itself in the three international recognitions.

“I think it really highlights the good work that our technicians are doing here,” Aaron Kendrick, Fleet Services business manager, said. “These are dedicated professionals, they work so hard, and so it’s really great to get that recognition so that other people can see the good work we’re doing here.”

Consisting of one of the largest municipal vehicle fleets and the fifth-largest bus fleet in Virginia, Chesterfield County Fleet Services provides support for all departments with county vehicles. Fleet Services manages four shop locations, two of which provide evening shift hours, which make available services including assisting in vehicle orders and specifications, leasing vehicles to departments, operating a motor pool for short-term rental needs, management of the county’s vehicle fueling operations (including alternative fuels such as liquid propane), disposal/selling of all county vehicles and coordinating and performing warranty and recall work for original equipment manufacturers (OEM’s).

“To be recognized as one of the best operational and green fleets is truly impressive. It says a lot about the men and women in Fleet Services who are dedicated to customer service and continuous improvement,” Craig Willingham, Fleet Services fleet manager, said. “I have a great team, a solid group of professionals, many of whom live in Chesterfield County and recognize how crucial our role is to the overall success of the county when serving our citizens.”
