Chippenham Parkway is shut down for accident involving fire truck

Chippenham Parkway NB is shut down near Hopkins Road due to an accident that involved a fire truck.

Sources tell us that firefighters were on the scene for an accident when another vehicle ran into the back of the fire truck.

No firefighters were injured, one occupants of the vehicle that ran into the fire truck was transported to the hospital.

The trooper’s preliminary investigation reveals that a Chesterfield fire engine was blocking the right lane with its emergency equipment activated assisting with a previous crash at the same location.  A 2012 Honda Civic, driven by, Joseph N. Clary, 40, of Chester, Va., was traveling northbound on Route 150 and struck the fire engine in the rear, spinning the Honda around into the middle lane.

Clary was transported to the hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.  There were no other injuries reported.

Clary has been charged with Reckless driving and Driving suspended.
