Due to multiple water line breaks in the City, a mandatory reduction of water consumption has been issued today for Petersburg utility customers. Public Utilities Crews are currently responding and are expected to work through the evening to repair the breaks.
Customers are asked to restrict water usage to only those purposes that maintain the public health, safety and welfare of human and animal life. Using water for purposes such as watering lawns and/or landscapes, non-commercial car washing, filling swimming pools etc. is prohibited.
This mandatory restriction is in effect for at least the next 24 hours or until crews can repair the water lines. The City will provide an update once this restriction has been lifted.
