This week, the city of Richmond will celebrate National Welcoming Week by hosting an informational fair in the lobby of the City Hall on Tuesday, September 19, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. to provide information to new residents.
“We are proud to be part of Welcoming Week, which is taking place in localities large and small, rural and urban and among people of all backgrounds coming together to create stronger communities,” said Mayor Levar M. Stoney. “It is a time to celebrate the values that unite us as neighbors, parents and colleagues, making our neighborhoods more welcoming to newcomers and everyone who calls our community home.”
Welcoming Week is an annual celebration bringing together thousands of people and hundreds of local events that celebrate the contributions of immigrants and refugees and the role communities play to foster greater welcome. Welcoming Week takes place September 15 – 24 across the country and now expanding to other parts of the world.
