Colonial Heights Police Arrest 4 adults & 2 Juveniles After Violent Crime Spree

Around Noon on March 18th, Colonial Heights Police Officers we’re called to Temple and Snead Ave. for a report of an armed robbery that had just occurred.

Upon arrival, officers located a male victim laying in the roadway with obvious signs of an assault. The victim reported that he was walking in the area when two males approached him. When one of the suspects asked the victim for a cigarette, the second male suspect struck the victim in the face with a handgun.

The two suspects took the victim’s wallet and fled the area on foot. Several witnesses in the area reported the suspects fled on foot, but then got into a late model, burgundy Chevrolet Impala and left the area. A police officer canvassing the area located the suspect vehicle a short distance away, stopped the vehicle and arrested the two male juvenile suspects. Four other individuals were located inside the suspect vehicle at the time of the arrest, however; with limited information at the time, officers were unable to determine if the other four individuals were involved with this crime and as a result, they were released, according to police.

Colonial Heights Detectives immediately made notification to surrounding jurisdictions and quickly discovered that all six of the individuals were possibly connected to a robbery that had occurred hours earlier in the City of Petersburg. Based on that information, Colonial Heights Police located and detained the four individuals that had been released and turned them over to Petersburg officers a short time later.

Colonial Heights Detectives continued to investigate this crime and determined that all six individuals were involved with the robbery in Colonial Heights. The victim was taken to Southside Regional Medical Center by private transport for serious, but not life-threatening injuries.

The first juvenile, a 17-year-old that was involved has been charged with Robbery, Malicious Wounding, Use of a Firearm in the Commission of a Felony and Conspiracy to Commit Robbery. The second juvenile. A 16-year-old, has been charged with Robbery and Conspiracy. Both are from Suffolk, Virginia and are currently being held at Chesterfield Juvenile Detention Center. Also arrested are, Karl Stallings Jr., 21, charged Robbery and Conspiracy. Charged with Conspiracy to commit Robbery are, John R. Elliot-Wiggins, 22, Vonteevon Q. Ray, 18, and Luis O. Portalatin-Valle, 22.
