The Dinwiddie Commonwealth’s Attorney announced that three people were indicted on first-degree murder charges for the June 20 murder of a Petersburg man.
Dinwiddie investigators obtained warrants charging conspiracy to commit murder against Thornell Sledge, 24, of Petersburg, Caleb Q. Smith, 25, of Newport News, and Jhanae Short, 18, of Petersburg.
The incident was first reported as a suspicious death when the victims body was found at his car wash.
Deputies quickly notified the public that they were investigating a homicide.
Deputies arrested the 3 suspects shortly after that.
Police have identified Umar Abdus Salaam of Petersburg as the victim. He was pronounced dead at Southside Regional Medical Center.
