A GRTC bus with no-one onboard rolled into a fire hydrant in downtown Richmond on Thursday morning and officials don’t know why or how the bus moved.

An out-of-service bus was parked without anyone on board around 11:30 a.m. when it rolled into the hydrant near the corner of 9th and Leigh streets. No one was injured and no water came out of the hydrant.

The bus was towed back to GRTC where crews are investigating to try and determine the cause.
