Foodie Review: Star-lite Dining and Lounge

"Located just a few blocks off the Boulevard on W Main St in the heart of the Museum District of the Fan, Starlite offers patio dining year round. Serving Brunch on the weekends and open late every night there’s no better place to be if you’re looking for great service, great food, and an even better time!"

One of the best features about Star-lite is their outdoor patio.  You can sit out on the covered patio year round, (windows can close) and be completely comfortable while enjoying the hustle and bustle of the city.  Sometimes while sitting at the table, conversation will have to stop because of a GRTC bus or firetruck driving by loudly.  This may turn some people away, but I don't think that Star-lite's average customer is someone that is deterred by typical city noises.

Star-lite is located at the corner of Robinson & Main Street in The Fan.  I must admit that just like Mary Angela's, Star-lite is another big time favorite of mine.  I promise I am not being bias, they are just that good.  They offer a wonderful and popular brunch on the weekends.  The brunch has all 3 of the necessities for success; breakfast food, food that will soak up alcohol, and alcohol.

Here are a few of my favorites from their brunch menu:

  • The Omelet • $9.95 Three egg omelet filled with 3 of the following: american, swiss, cheddar, mozzarella, provolone, feta, ham, bacon, sausage, spinach, onion, red peppers, mushrooms, tomato, jalapenos, kalamata olives.
  • “I Can’t Make Up My Mind!” • $11.25 Two eggs any style, two pancakes (plain or blueberry) & choice of bacon, sausage or ham.
  • Biscuits & Sausage Gravy • $7.95 Savory homemade sausage gravy served over two warm open-faced biscuits.

I must admit now that I do enjoy the brunch, but I almost always go for the wings.  The honey sriracha party wings to be specific.  My girlfriend and I split an order of 12 wings with fries and cucumbers on the side.  Of course we get two large cups of ranch to go with the wings, however, unlike at other wing stops we barely touch the ranch.  The honey sriracha flavoring is a perfect blend of spice and flavor to make you want to drink water and eat cucumbers, but not so spicy that you start to cry.  That may be some peoples type of wing, however I enjoy tasting my food.  I have also eaten the steak and cheese sub, classic burger, classic chicken breast sandwich, the turkey club, and the fried catfish sandwich recently.  All of them are great in their own great way.  Star-lite has mastered multiple types of menu items for a city bar.  I do prefer the wings and burgers over everything else, but that is just my specific favoritism towards those types of food in general.

Star-lite has a great happy hour with cheap drinks across the board.  Especially the rail drinks, I always end up buy 3-4 rum and coke's and it will usually cost me less than 10 dollars.  (Not counting the food) Star-lite truly does have one of the best happy hours around.  Check it out Monday through Friday from 3p – 7pm.

Star-lite is one of the best spots in an area that is full of great foodie locations.  We highly recommend that you go here sooner rather than later.  In the meantime check out more info on Star-lite and view the entire menu on their website.
