Hanover man arrested for touching women while shopping

Inappropriately touching women while they are shopping is a quick way to get some negative attention, and thats exactly what Maliak Mawat received from Hanover sheriff’s deputies.

Mawat, 53, of Henrico County, has been charged with two counts sexual battery and one count each of indecent exposure and public intoxication. He was identified by two women as the suspect.

Deputies responded Monday to the 7200 block of Bell Creek Road and spoke with a woman who described being touched without her consent while she was shopping. While talking to the first woman on the scene, a second woman approached the deputies and described a similar incident with the suspect.

Mawat is currently in jail without bail. Stay with us for updates.
