Hopewell man arrested after police chase in Prince George

This morning approximately, 7:51 a.m., a Virginia State Police Trooper observed a male, 27, of Hopewell, Va., operating a 2006 Suzuki Hayabusa motorcycle, failing to stop at stop signs and traffic signals on Maury Street in Richmond.  

The trooper attempted to stop the male subject southbound I-95 at Maury Street and the male refused to stop.  The trooper then initiated a pursuit with all his emergency equipment activated.  The pursuit entered into Chesterfield County traveling southbound I-95 where two Chesterfield trooper’s then took over the pursuit.  At approximately, 8:10 a.m., at southbound I-95 at the 38.4 mile marker in Prince George County the subject lost control of his motorcycle, running off road, and wrecking.  

Three trooper vehicle’s were struck by the motorcycle during the pursuit and sustained minor damage.  The subject was taken into custody without further incident.  There were no injuries sustained as a result of this incident.   

The trooper has transported the subject to Riverside Regional Jail where they are awaiting to see the Magistrate.  Sources say the suspect is from Hopewell.

An update will be provided in reference to charges.  

The incident remains under investigation.
