The Spanberger campaign just announced the endorsement from state Senator, Jennifer McClellan. Read it below:
Today, State Senator Jennifer McClellan announced her endorsement of Abigail Spanberger, Democratic candidate for Congress in Virginia’s 7th District. Sen. McClellan represents the 9th District in the Virginia State Senate, which includes portions of VA07.
“In over a decade in the General Assembly fighting for a better future for all Virginians, I’ve learned what it takes to find common ground and get things done as a legislator,” McClellan said. “Virginia needs a leader like Abigail in Congress who will reject partisan ideology, put her nose to the grindstone, and deliver results for all Virginians. Her experience as a public servant and native Virginian have prepared her to serve the 7th district. I am happy to offer my enthusiastic endorsement and support.”
“First as a member of the House of Delegates and now as a member of the Virginia State Senate, Jennifer has made it her mission to provide her constituents with principled, effective leadership,” said Spanberger. “Since announcing my candidacy, I have had the good fortune to get to know Jennifer on the campaign trail, and it is truly humbling to have the support and encouragement of one of Virginia’s most accomplished legislators and dedicated public servants.”
The Spanberger campaign has received several high-profile endorsements recently, including the EMILY’s List, End Citizens United, Senator Mark Warner, Governor Ralph Northam, Lieutenant Governor Justin Fairfax, and Richmond Mayor Levar Stoney. She will face Republican Congressman Dave Brat in November.
