If Dave Brat wins, you lose
I usually ignore political polls. The only poll that matters is the one on Election Day. But, when I see a poll indicating that independent voters favor Dave Brat I wonder where they have been during this campaign. How can these voters favor Brat when BratFacts have shown that–
1- Dave Brat has opposed any Federal Government action to deal with climate change;
2- Dave Brat has acted to make guns available to mentally handicapped persons, and to remove minimum sentences for criminals who use silencers on their weapons;
3- Dave Brat has indicated that he favors cutting Social Securty benefits;
4- Dave Brat has acted to deprive women of control of their own bodies;
5- Dave Brat has voted to increase the national debt by $2.5 trillion;
6- Dave Brat voted to repeal the Affordable Care Act, preferring instead that we self-insure with medical savings accounts;
7- Dave Brat has acted to block the Environmental Protection Agency from enforcing environmental legislation;
8- Dave Brat has opposed comprehensive immigration reform;
9- Dave Brat favors using public school money for school voucher programs?
On top of his wrong positions, Dave Brat has been a poor legislator. In four years in Congress only one of Dave Brat’s introduced bills has become law–in a Congress that is controlled by his own party!
So, independent voters, rethink your position. If Dave Brat wins, you lose. Vote for Abigail Spanberger.”
Dave Brat Shafts Gold Star Families, Shields the Rich
What does it take for Dave Brat to care about the members of our military and their families?
An election! At the last possible moment, Brat is pushing out legislation supportive of vets, but his past record on supporting our troops is abysmal.
How does Dave Brat vote when the interests of the surviving spouses of members of the military killed in the line of duty come up against the interests of millionaires?
The widows and widowers get the shaft! Dave Brat voted against the Yarmuth Amendment to the bipartisan bill, H.R. 846, the Military Surviving Spouses Equity Act; the Amendment would have eliminated a penalty that prevents approximately 64,000 surviving military spouses (most of them women) from receiving full death benefits, costing them an average of $15,000 annually.
What could be wrong with offering full benefits to the families of those who’ve lost their lives to protect us?
Doing this would impinge upon benefits to the wealthy: Yarmuth had proposed funding the fix by repealing less than 1% of Trump’s tax cuts for the wealthy and big corporations. The Amendment failed in Committee, with three Republicans and all Democrats voting for it (see details here). Brat was a vote against.
But, with November 6 just around the corner, Dave Brat wants to paint himself as a friend of the military! How pathetic that it takes an election to make him see the value in supporting our troops and their families.
