Man Injured After Shooting at a Chesterfield Police Officer

Chesterfield police say a man is in the hospital after firing shots at a police officer early Thursday morning.

Officers originally responded to a robbery around 5 a.m. at the APlus gas station on Chester Road near Rt. 288. The suspect demanded money and ran from the scene.

When police arrived on the scene, they found the suspect near the woods by the Waffle House on Old Lane.

The man fired shots at an officer, and the officer fired back, according to police. Officers say the man was taken to a hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The officer was not injured in the shooting.

Police are still on the scene investigating the robbery and shooting.

The entrance to the gas station and Waffle House are closed. The roads are open in the area.
