Richmond, VA – Mayor Levar M. Stoney, the City of Richmond and its Planning Commission are pleased to announce the launch of the citywide Master Plan, Richmond 300: A Guide for Growth. The citywide Master Plan was last updated in 2001, and since then the city has added over 30,000 residents and continues to grow in population.
Richmond 300: A Guide for Growth will establish a 20-year vision for the growth of the city. In 2037, Richmond will celebrate its 300thanniversary. As we look forward to this milestone, we are asking how we want Richmond to look and work as we grow. Richmond 300 is the plan that articulates our shared vision for our city and outlines place-based recommendations to bring that vision to fruition.
The process to develop Richmond 300 is a citywide conversation about change, focusing on where we’ve been, where we are now and where we want to be in 20 years. Because every Richmonder should have a say in how the city grows, Richmond 300 will be developed with extensive community input.
“Richmond 300 represents exactly how we will build One Richmond,” said Mayor Stoney. “I encourage all our citizens to participate in this important initiative.”
The Richmond 300 launch event will be held on the Observation Deck of City Hall from 10 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. on July 18th and will be immediately followed by an activity asking individuals to write what the love about Richmond. This activity will be open to the public and City Hall staff until 5 p.m.
