One person has died after a crash in Hanover

A North Carolina man was killed and two other people were injured in a crash that involved three different vehicles on Monday in Hanover County.

Just before 5 p.m., the Hanover Sheriff’s Office responded to the three-vehicle crash in the 14000 block of Washington Highway.

According to a preliminary investigation, a 2003 Kia Sedona was northbound on Washington Highway and crossed the double solid yellow lines into the southbound travel lanes. The Kia collided head-on with a 2007 Ford F150 and then with a 2015 Penske box truck, according to authorities.

A passenger in the Ford F150, John James Bailey III, 61, of Tarboro, N.C., was pronounced dead upon arrival at a local hospital. The drivers of the Ford F150 and Kia Sedona suffered non-life-threatening injuries and were transported to a local hospital, authorities said.

Authorities are still collecting information to determine the circumstances that led to the crash
