Opinion: Trump is taking his mind to another place after bigVirginia loss

Written by Madeline Head
The country told us last night that they do not agree with President Trump in a landslide. President Trump has beautifully ignored this horrific loss. CNN points out “Trump has made a habit in his political life (and his regular life) of ignoring facts he doesn’t like and, instead telling himself the story in which he is always the hero, always the winner.”

A new CNN poll conducted by SSRS claims, “Americans’ confidence in their President to handle just about everything else (besides the economy, which is the best since before September 11, 2011) has fallen.”

The nation also believes that Trump’s ability to unite the country is not probable with the CNN poll stating “30% say they think the President will unite the country rather than divide it, down 13 points since last November, and 38% say he cares about “people like you”, also down significantly from a year ago.”

Yet, the Chicago Tribune as well as CNNand USA Today are claiming Donald Trump is a lock for the 2020 nomination. USA Today states “the president need not worry about any threat to his nomination from outside the White House, according to the prediction market Predictit.”

This is shocking since the Chicago Tribunesays, “More than half of Americans don’t think Donald Trump is fit to serve as president, yet he has a clear path to winning re-election.”

I guess this is because President Trump has a fundamental group of followers that refuse to be derailed from supporting him. The Chicago Tribune sums up his voters perfectly by saying, “These are the voters Trump was referring to when he said that he could stand in the middle of Fifth Avenue and shoot someone and he wouldn’t lose voters.”

If this weren’t so terrifying it would almost be humorous.
