On Monday at approximately, 12:06 p.m., the Virginia State Police responded to a two-vehicle crash northbound I-295 at the 34 mile marker.
The Trooper’s preliminary investigation reveals that a driver of a 2010 Peterbilt Tractor and trailer hauling bottled water and the driver of a 2014 Ford F-150 were both attempting to merge into the left center lane as they were traveling northbound. The driver of the tractor and trailer struck the F-150 on the driver side door, overcorrected loosing control, and the weight of the load shifted. As a result the driver of the tractor and trailer ran off road left and overturning.
The driver of the tractor and trailer was transported to the hospital for treatment of serious injuries. The driver of the Ford was not injured.
The crash remains under investigation and cleanup is currently underway, which can take an extended amount of time.
Charges are pending at this time.
