Police are investigating an armed robbery at VCU

On Friday morning around 4 a.m., Richmond Police and VCU Police responded to the 800 block of West Broad Street for a report of an armed robbery.

The victim reported that the suspect approached him, displayed a black handgun and stated, “I need money to feed my daughter and I need money now.” The suspect took $20 and fled west on Broad Street on a blue and white bicycle. The victim waited and did not contact police immediately after the incident.

Police describe the suspect as a Black male, 40-50 years old, grey hair, black shirt, black shorts, black ball cap, riding a blue and white bicycle and last seen going west on W. Broad Street.

Richmond Police are leading the investigation.
