GLEN ALLEN, VA — Today, Abigail Spanberger, candidate for Virginia’s 7th Congressional District, received the endorsement of Off the Sidelines, Senator Kirsten Gillibrand’s (D-NY) organization dedicated to inspiring more women to get off the sidelines and let their voices be heard. Since its launch, Off The Sidelines has directly raised nearly $5 million for women candidates to ensure they have the resources needed to win.
“We’re excited to endorse Abigail’s campaign in Virginia’s 7th District,” said Senator Gillibrand. “From her emphasis on affordable, quality healthcare for all to her support for common-sense policies that ensure economic opportunity for the women in her district, Abigail is an ideal candidate for Off the Sidelines to support and the perfect example of a woman advocating, engaging and most importantly, running.”
“I am honored to receive this organization’s support because it is essential that we continue to not only encourage, but to empower more women and girls to advocate on behalf of the issues they care about, to get involved in the political process, and to run for public office,” said Spanberger. “Now more than ever, this message is resonating with people all across the country, and we are excited to be a part of the movement. I look forward to working with Off the Sidelines to increase the number of women at the table and ensure continued opportunity for the women and girls in Virginia’s 7th District and all communities.”
The support Off the Sidelines joins a growing list of national organizations and individuals backing Spanberger’s candidacy, including EMILY’s List, End Citizens United, NARAL Pro-Choice America, and numerous elected leaders, including Virginia Delegates Dawn Adams, Debra Rodman, and Schuyler VanValkenburg, as well as Richmond Mayor Levar Stoney.
Election Day for the Democratic Primary is Tuesday, June 12. The Spanberger campaign encourages all to visit https://www.vote.org/polling-place-locator/ to find their polling location.
