HENRICO, VA — In continuing to build her official staff, Congresswoman-Elect Abigail Spanberger (D-VA) announced today that Maryam Janani will come aboard as Legislative Director in January.
Janani, a former senior legislative assistant to Rep. Beto O’Rourke (D-TX) and Director of Policy and Research for the Beto for Texas senatorial campaign, comes into her new role with a background in health policy, public policy, and economics. Her professional experience spans both the public and private sectors, as well as domestic and international non-profit groups.
“Maryam brings a wealth of knowledge and policy experience to our team,” said Spanberger. “As our Legislative Director, Maryam will be critical in driving our issues-focused agenda as we work to craft innovative and meaningful policies that will help the people of Virginia’s 7th District. I couldn’t be more thrilled to have someone of her considerable talents and expertise on our team.”
Janani is eager to make a positive impact on Virginia’s 7th District in her new role. “I admire Congresswoman-elect Spanberger’s commitment to her constituents and the values she ran on, and I am very excited to be joining her team,” she said. “I look forward to executing the office’s legislative vision and working for the people of Virginia’s 7th.”
