The Spanberger campaign has announced the endorsement with a press release. Read it below:
HENRICO, VA — Today, the Virginia Police Benevolent Association endorsed Abigail Spanberger, Democratic candidate for Congress in Virginia’s 7th District. The VPBA is a chapter of the Southern States Police Benevolent Association, a non-profit member organization that provides legal, advocacy and other representation to more than 50,000 law enforcement officers at the local, state, and federal level.
“The law enforcement community throughout Virginia’s 7th Congressional District has no better friend and advocate than Abigail Spanberger,” said Joseph Woloszyn, Virginia Police Benevolent Association Division President. “Abigail Spanberger’s knowledge and experience on issues that are important to law enforcement professionals makes her a deserving recipient of our endorsement. The Virginia Police Benevolent Association is proud to put our support behind Abigail Spanberger and asks that the citizens of the 7th District do the same. A vote for Abigail Spanberger is a vote for the men and women of law enforcement and the citizens they serve.”
Spanberger, who served in law enforcement prior to beginning her career as a CIA case officer, expressed her appreciation for the endorsement. “I’m grateful to the members of the VPBA, both for their support of our campaign and for the work they do to keep our communities safe. As a former law enforcement officer, I know the commitment and responsibility that officers have in our communities, and I will be an advocate for policies that allow departments to serve our communities more effectively and ensure the highest level of training and safety for our officers.”
