It isn’t the same as someone stealing Tom Brady’s Super Bowl jersey, but Luke Kennard fans should keep their eyes on eBay

They might come across some stolen memorabilia of the Franklin High School and Duke University basketball star.

For the past few years, Franklin posted signs at the city’s main entrances celebrating its hometown hero and two-time Ohio Mr. Basketball.

However, in the past few weeks, two signs have been stolen, forcing the city to take down three others.

“The one thing Luke did wrong was that he’s too popular,” City Manager Sonny Lewis during a council meeting Monday.

City officials believe the signs were stolen after Kennard declared his intentions to enter the NBA draft and forgo his final two years at Duke .

Steve Inman, city public works director, said there were five signs made for various city entrances. He said the two that were pilfered were located in the north area of the city, at the point where River and Main streets meet and on North Dixie Highway.

The signs cost about $155 each to make, Inman said.
