Virginia Tech offensive lineman D’Andre Plantin is planning to graduate in December and transfer. The fourth-year junior out of Norcross High School played in games against William and Mary and Old Dominion this year.
Coach Justin Fuente granted Plantin’s request for a scholarship release with no restrictions, according to a team’s spokesperson.
Plantin moved to the interior of the offensive line in the spring where he was in contention to replace first-team All-ACC selection Wyatt Teller as the team’s starting left guard. The coaching staff sounded excited about Plantin’s progress.
“I’ve been thrilled with D’Andre through the offseason and through the spring,” Fuente said. “He’s done a really good job, and he’s got to continue to be consistent and continue to do that and handle the praise that comes with doing a good job. So now they’re pats on the back instead of prods.”
