Three people robbed an elderly woman in Chesterfield on Sunday evening as she was headed to church with her 89-year-old husband. The husband and wife have lived in this neighborhood for decades. According to their son, the couple has never had any trouble before this. This is a close-knit community that tries to look out for each other according to neighbors.
According to police, a man and woman approached the 82-year-old woman in her driveway, taking her keys and cellphone. A third person showed a handgun and pushed her to the ground. The three left in her white 2015 Nissan Versa with Virginia license plate KDH-8100. Police said the carjackers are described as being two black men and woman in their teens or early 20s.
Officials said the incident happened in the 3400 block of Summerbrooke Drive around 5 p.m. on Sunday. The woman and her husband were not physically harmed, but they will suffer the mental effects of what happened. Every time they go out their front door, will be a bigger, scarier ordeal than before. A simple mindless task like leaving your house to go to church will never be so simple and mindless again.
