A woman from Crew was supposed to be facing credit card fraud-related charges at the Chesterfield County Courthouse. However, deputies monitoring security cameras saw her sit on the curb and inject herself with a syringe in the arm. She then discarded the syringe into a sewage drain.

Authorities identified the woman as Crystal Corbett, 38, from Crew. Deputies then located the woman and the syringe a few moments later. Deputies say it appears to be heroin residue in the syringe.

“Deputies discovered other illegal drugs in her possession,” the sheriff’s office said.

She has bee charged with felony possession of a controlled substance, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Corbett’s hearing on credit card fraud charges has been continued to Sept. 26.
